    As part of the major turnaround flare tips are being replaced for the first time in the Sakhalin-2 project.  The work is being carried out at two of the Sakhalin Energy assets, the Onshore processing facility (OPF) and the Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) plant.

    It is abnormally hot on Sakhalin these days. It is not less "hot" at the Sakhalin-2 integrated gas chain system − the major shutdown operations are in full swing now. Not a single case of fire was recorded on the Sakhalin-2 project despite the higher risk of fires and the increased number of employees at the assets.

    The regional competition in national sports among children of the Sakhalin indigenous minorities took place in Poronaysk.

    Poronaysk saw the start of the Sakhalin Oblast championship in national sports for indigenous children. The three-day competition brings together 67 young athletes aged 10 to 17. They represent seven indigenous districts − Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsk, Okha, Nogliki, Poronaysk, Smirnykh, Tymovsk and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

    At the Special Conference of Sakhalin indigenous minorities held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk it was decided to agree to the implementation of the fourth Sakhalin Indigenous Minorities Development Plan (SIMDP). The tripartite programme is based on public-private partnership between the Regional Council of the Authorised Representatives of the Sakhalin Indigenous Minorities, the Sakhalin Oblast Government and Sakhalin Energy. Fifty eight delegates from seven districts of traditional residence of Sakhalin indigenous ethnic groups gathered in the island capital to discuss the draft Plan.

    Representatives of the leading regional companies and contractors of the oil and gas complex met in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk at the premises the Technical Oil and Gas Institute of Sakhalin State University (SakhSU) to discuss topical issues of developing manpower for oil and gas companies. Organised in cooperation of the regional Ministry of Education and the Sakhalin Oblast Agency for Human Resource Development, the event was attended by 14 companies, including Sakhalin Energy.
